One for your Android friends…

Some folks use Android Phones!

I just released a version of VLC Remote for Android so that they can get the same control as iPhone and Pre users have already.

It’s tough to break into a new platform, so please do help me spread the word!

Details are available at www.HobbyistSoftware.com or you can click here to send a download link to your Android Device.

As with the iPhone and the Pre, there is even a free version with limited features for them to try out!

Thank you.

Other apps from Shimon…

Shimon from shsh.com actually did the coding for this Android version of VLC remote.

Have a look at his other apps:

aTAKEphONE will change the way you use your phone to make calls – no more having to open the G1 keyboard to search for contacts, or fiddling with the tiny on-screen keyboard buttons, fast & easy access to all your favorites, call-log and even a dial-by-photo feature !

And if you have an iPhone, Shimon has TAKEphONE Gold too!
TAKEphONE Gold will change the way you use your phone to make calls: T9 search, dial by photo, instant redial.

Throw Pages Away…

You can get rid of pages (or bookmarks, or history for that matter) by tapping on the trash icon in the flow-mode view.

More fun is just to throw the page off the top of the screen!

Watch the linked video to see this (and other features) in action…

Tip: Hide the toolbar

Shake your iPod or iPhone to hide the bottom toolbar and get full screen browsing.

To bring it back, just shake again, or tap on the bottom of the screen.

Or, just tap the down arrow to hide the toolbar, and tap at the bottom of the screen to bring it back.

DVD Control now available

Version 0.2.0 was just approved. (in a pretty speedy 3 days!)

The new version allows you to control DVD menus, toggle subtitles, languages, change speed and manage audio and subtitle delays.

The one important thing to note is that you will have to run the setup helper version 2.5 or higher for these commands to work.

If you set up VLC some time ago, or the new commands do nothing, then please just download the setup helper from http://hobbyistsoftware.com/vlc and run it again.

Enjoy!

DVD Control coming soon…

Hi Folks,

Palm just approved the last update for VLC remote (0.1.9) which fixed an issue for windows users.

That has let me upload 0.2.0 which adds a whole new set of features.

The new version allows you to control DVD menus, toggle subtitles, languages, change speed and manage audio and subtitle delays.

You’ll have it as soon as Palm approve it!
